Our music theory is designed around the capabilities of today’s software-based music production process. The goal is to improve that process and liberate users from the limitations of a 1000-year-old representation, called standard notation.

Rather than release journal articles that are of academic interest only, we are testing our theories by releasing innovative music production tools that solve real world music creation problems.

Liquid Rhythm focuses on drum production and is the first in a series of music generation tools that allow people to rapidly generate and transform musical ideas, while also providing a framework for analyzing musical composition.
