Since his start at The Hit Factory, NYC, Ricardo has been a student of the oldschool
New York studio world that meant knowing how to align a tape machine and cut vinyl masters, but he has also fully embraced the evolving world of audio technology.
Over a decade into his career Ricardo has been privileged to work with artists from many genres, including Justin Timberlake, Just Blaze, Cedric Gervais and Atmosphere. Ricardo Gutierrez has been hooked on music since the age of five. That particular Brooklyn summer commanded every speaker to blast Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock" on repeat and the eerie melody was stuck in his ears. Twenty years later he found himself learning how to master music from the very man who mastered "Planet Rock" in the first place.
Recently, Ricardo has added a new chapter to his life. He's become a full time student at Columbia
University in Computer Science while still mastering full time. The landscape of the audio world has changed drastically since having to align tape machines and Ricardo is preparing himself for even more change in the future.
