IMSTA is proud to host another exciting panel series during IMSTA FESTA NY 2022 featuring industry leaders and their fresh perspectives on music production.
We are bringing together the best minds, innovators and companies in the business of music and audio for this 1-day networking event.

Overview: This masterclass will discuss various career paths in the music industry, as well as the importance of educating oneself to increase success. Tony will share his experiences and insight into entering a career in the music industry.

Tony Drootin is the manager of Montclair’s Sound on Sound Studios, a state-of-the-art and award-winning recording facility. He previously managed a number of top audio production facilities in New York City, including the prestigious Sony Music Studios. Throughout his 37 year career, he has worked with numerous Grammy-winning and top-selling artists, composers, engineers and producers. Tony also sits on the Board of Trustees for the nonprofit We Are All Music Foundation, as well as the Board of Advisors for the nonprofit Hip Hop Public Health organization.

Overview: BAFTA nominated and ASCAP award-winning composer Tom Salta is one of the most versatile and prolific music artists/producers working in film, television, advertising and video games.

Renowned for crafting emotionally engaging soundtracks for multimedia, Salta has received widespread industry acclaim for his world-class produced hybrid scores featured in film, television and video games such as Arkane Studios’ DEATHLOOP, Machine Games’ WOLFENSTEIN: Youngblood & Cyberpilot, Microsoft’s iconic HALO series (Best Original Soundtrack Award at Game Developers Conference), Ubisoft’s PRINCE OF PERSIA: The Forgotten Sands and RED STEEL (IGN Award for Best Original Score), Tom Clancy’s GHOST RECON and H.A.W.X series, as well as the epic theme music for the record-breaking online multiplayer game PLAYERUNKNOWN’s BATTLEGROUNDS, which has sold in excess of 70 million units with over 700 million players.

Overview: Christian Farrad is the CEO of CFM360 Consulting. Chris has served in operational roles at several record labels , such as COO at Pro Era Records in Brooklyn and as General Manager at Slip N Slide Records in Miami. Chris has been involved in all areas of record label operations, including contract negotiations, overseeing recording and marketing budgets, royalty statement preparation, and album release coordination with major label distribution partners, to generate multi-million dollar global sales.

Chris has served as Financial Business Manager, specializing in music and entertainment, at Wealth Management Associates LLC in New York City. He provided financial, accounting, and business management services for high-profile singers, rappers, songwriters, rock bands, music producers, managers, records labels, and executives. Chris began his career in corporate media finance as a Financial Analyst for The Cisneros Group in Miami, Florida, owners of media brands such as Univision, AOL Latin America, and Playboy Latin America.

Overview: Rosemarie Tully focuses her practice on entertainment-related matters involving music, independent film, original series production, and copyright, as well as corporate/business organization and operation. Her experience includes counseling Grammy Award recipients, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, award-winning independent Film Producers, published authors, and major league sports figures. Involved in bar associations and the community, Rosemarie is a past Chair of the Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), a member of its CLE Committee, a member of New York Women in Film and Television, and a speaker at industry, business and community events. She is a Co-Editor of Siegel on Entertainment Law, a NYSBA publication, and has taught as an adjunct professor of Entertainment Law at Touro Law Center (Long Island, New York).

Nacor Zuluaga - Antares

Grammy-nominated mixing and mastering engineer, producer, and educator Nacor Zuluaga was mentored by Mark Christensen in 2011-2013 mastering multi-platinum projects for artists like Robin Schulz (on the Grammy-nominated Remix of 'Waves' by Mr. Probz for Best Remix), Trey Songz, and 50 Cent. He's worked in commercial studios in NYC since 2011, as a staff mix/mastering engineer and operations manager, and has dedicated himself primarily to Mixing and Mastering since 2014.



Brandon Peralta - AVID

As an engineer with Universal Music Group, Brandon has worked on over a thousand Dolby Atmos Mixes for notable artists such as Kid Cudi, Nikki Minaj, Lil Wayne, The Temptations, Shawn Mendes, James Bay, Marcus Mumford, and Em Beihold. He has also worked as an engineer on records with artists such as Flatbush Zombies, the inaugural album “Escape From New York” by rap collective Beast Coast, Joey Bada$$, Haleek Maul, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kimbra, and Battles.



Noel Jasso - Baby Audio

Noel Jasso is a Grammy-Nominated session drummer and composer from Los Angeles, California. He has toured and recorded for artists worldwide and has had his music placed on television shows, video games, and films. Noel is also a Co-Founder of Hey Pete Productions, an NYC-based production company specializing in Music Composition, Sound Design, & Audio Post Production.



Sam Ventura - PSP Audio

Sam Ventura is a Juno-Nominated Audio Engineer, Music Producer, Mixing Engineer, Mastering Engineer, Guitarist, and Composer that has toured nationally as a Guitarist and Music Director. Sam is also a Co-Founder of Hey Pete Productions, a NYC-based production company specializing in Music Composition, Sound Design, & Audio Post Production.



Destiny Greene - ACON Digital

Destiny is an experienced recording, mixing, and mastering engineer as well as audiovisual technician who is has worked in the corporate, higher education, broadcast and recording studio industries. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and started in recording technology in 2015. Destiny takes pride in her ability to adapt to an ever changing industry while still maintaining sight of her passion and goals. She currently provides AV technical support for Morgan Stanley in New York and freelance mixing and mastering services as well as home studio consultations.



Rondell Patterson - NUGEN Audio

Hailing from the exotic Caribbean country of St. Vincent & the Grenadines Rondell Patterson is a U.S.-based audio engineer with a background in architecture, songwriting, music production, and live performances. His original compositions were selected as theme songs for his home country’s national Gospel Music Festival. His first official music project as Executive Producer was released in 2015 - 'The Almighty's Project' by The NLM, alongside Billboard Producer Adrian Bailey; known for his work on the hit Single 'Turn Me On’ by Vincentian Kevin Little.



Nicholas Gallick - Blue Cat Audio

Nick Gallick has always possessed a deep connection with both music and sound. He has cultivated a range of skills and experience in many fields of audio including songwriting, music production, film, and post-production. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Recording & Business Management from Five Towns College, he began working in various studios on Long Island, NY. He’s currently an audio instructor at SAE Institute NYC, a freelance engineer, and a guitar teacher.



Collin Bevan - Eventide

Collin is the product manager of plugins for Eventide, working as a liaison between the development and marketing teams as well as artists and influencers. His journey as an audio engineer and producer began at 16, managing to record, mix, and master 10 EPs for local bands in the Poconos before attending the College of Saint Rose as a music industry major and a percussionist.



Kia Eshghi - Celemony

Kia is a 20 year veteran of the music industry. At the age of 18 he toured nationally and internationally as a guitar player with successful Hardcore Metal band Unearth (Metal Blade, Century Media) and played many festivals such as Warped Tour, Hellfest, Ozzfest and shared the stage with many notable acts.



Bill Collins - Magix

Bill Collins is a Chicago-based music producer, educator and product specialist for MAGIX Software who has been actively performing and producing music for over 20 years. His music can be heard on several major television networks and is published by Sony/ATV and Universal Music Publishing Group. Bill is also the Editor for The Pro Audio Files, and served as Course Director for the Los Angeles Film School from 2010-2017.



Luis Tineo - FabFilter

Luis Tineo also known as Sabor (pronounced/ Saab-or) is an american music producer, music & film mix engineer & DJ. Studied in NYC at Center for the Media Arts and best known for his extensive work catalog as a sound engineer at some of the top recording studios in the NY area like the legendary hip-hop studio D&D & Chung King with credits that are considered to be iconic projects in the Hip-Hop and Dance music genres.



Wilkis Figuereo - SONIBLE

Wilkis Figuereo is a CEO, Entrepreneur, Producer and Engineer with over 20 years experience. He is the owner of Itec Audio Studios in New Jersey, one of the premier Avid Authorized training centers in the North East United States. Wilkis also serves as an Educational Consultant for Music Production programs across the nation and a partner of NYU’s Hip Hop Education Center.

Tony Franco - PSPaudioware

Tony Franco is a freelance recording and mixing engineer. Tony had cut his teeth working with artists in studios, both small and large, around the greater Los Angeles area. Tony has over half a decade of experience mixing remotely for independent artists from around the world. He specializes in working with Hip Hop and electronic pop genres, but ventures out to work with occasional singer song-writers and rock bands as well. Tony likes to work with artists and musicians on a personal level. He feels that creating a positive vibe, and maintaining open communication between the artist and mixer or producer, can nurture more successful songs.



J Chris Griffin - ANTARES

J. Chris Griffin is heavily involved in the Music industry, working on records with John Legend, Kanye West, Madonna, Missy Elliott, Kelly Clarkson, The Corrs, and jazz guitarist John McLaughlin. A 24-year SESAC affiliate, his own compositions and remixes are all over international television and cinema with credits ranging from MGM Studios to CBS's "NCIS.” Chris is a decade-long adjunct faculty member at New York University and is based out of Engine Room Audio in Manhattan.

Ruben “MusicMan” Garcia - BLUE CAT Audio

Educator, Guitarist, Audio Engineer and Entrepreneur, the CEO of the 5 Star Rated Tech Services company MusicMan Engineering that service the technical needs of multimedia professionals, artists, businesses, educational institutions and more. Ruben also mentors students in the areas of professional audio and computer technology, preparing them for the rigors they will encounter in the field and in the ever expanding digital world.



Dre Malik - Serato

Dré Malik is a recording/mixing engineer and music composer from Bakersfield, CA. With over a decade of experience in music production, Dré has gained the trust of many artists all over the country helping produce hundreds of songs. In 2021 Dré was the recipient of the “Producer of the Year” award for the Bakersfield Music Awards. Dré is most best known for his extensive catalogue as a sound engineer and music producer on Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop tracks. Dré currently operates his own production company.

John Merlo is a long time tracking and mixing Engineer. He is the owner and operator of The Beacon Studios and co-found of Black Label Sonics. The beacon studios is a multifaceted media production company located in Bakersfield California. Their studio specializes in cinematic content creation for creative and corporate clients.

Eric Burgess - Kilohearts

Based in So Cal Eric Burgess is an artist, tutorialist, and bowler. Eric principally focus on anything audio, composition and production are my passion. Eric started learning in a humble DAW and read and watched any material he could get my hands on, ranging from manuals, to tutorials, to college text books with subjects from counterpoint and music theory to mixing and midi sequencing. I’ve moved my way up both in gear, and especially knowledge. Being largely self taught Eric is living proof that the resources are out there if you apply yourself.



Carlo Libertini - NUGEN Audio + Melodyne

Carlo Libertini is an audio production engineer and product training specialist with Music Marketing Inc. He is a musician and song writer with years of experience recording and producing a variety of musical genres from hard rock to spoken word. He is a content creator for Pro Mix Academy and actively conducts on-line training seminars, product marketing services, software demonstrations, and video training tutorials.



Stefan Weith – Baby Audio

Music Rights Organizations represent a variety of rights including the performing and reproductions rights of music creators and publishers for the composition (music and lyrics), so if you're a songwriter, composer, or producer this seminar is for you. Learn the difference between performing and reproduction rights, how and when to join SOCAN, and how to receive the money you've rightfully earned for your hard work.

Overview: In this masterclass, Mary Luehrsen, Sr. Advisor for Public Policy at NAMM and Executive Director of the NAMM Foundation talks about exploring career pathways, mindsets and networks as music industry professionals.

Mary Luehrsen is Sr. Advisor for Public Policy for NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants and Executive Director of the NAMM Foundation. Luehrsen guides the organization as an international leader for music education and oversees policy and advocacy issues that impact global music product businesses. The NAMM Foundation focuses on supporting music research, and philanthropic and public service programs that advance music making opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. A former professional flutist and music teacher, Luehrsen acknowledges her inspiration to advocate for music education her first music teachers in rural Wisconsin and a belief that all children have the right to learn and grow with music.

Overview: This panel covers the role of music supervisors in sync licensing for screen, which includes video games, TV shows, commercials, movies, etc. The panel will also talk about the etiquette of approaching and working with music supervisors.

Whether you’re an aspiring beat-maker, or an industry professional who wonders how beats are made, this session will pull back the curtain and show you why Canadian beat-makers are among the best in the world. Ever wonder where the ideas for beats come from? How to create a beat? What software you can use? What are the stages of growth of a beat? How do you use, or re-create, samples? And once you’ve a finished beat, how do you shop it? How do top-liners write over the beat? The “Cooking Beats” panel will answer these questions, and whatever else you want to ask about the art and craft of beat-making.
