IMSTA SONG COMPETITION - Closed
In Association with AKON’s HITLAB
The International Music Software Trade Association (IMSTA) in association with Akon’s HITLAB is looking for the best unsigned artists who have created their demos with non-pirated music software. All genres of music are welcomed and there are no limits to the number of songs that each contestant may submit.

PERFORM LIVE IN FRONT OF AKON
Toenter you need to analyze your music through HITLAB’s Dynamic Hit Scoring (DHS) technology* and the artist with the highest score will be selected to perform live in front of Akon and a panel of industry experts at the HITLAB Showcase this summer**.

SIGN WITH A MAJOR LABEL
The first place winner - Depending on your performance at the HITLAB Showcase, you could walk away with a recording contract with one of Akon’s own labels (Konvict Music or Konlive) or one of the other big name labels represented at the showcase.

Please refer to the HITLAB.com web site for the exact date and location for the 2010 HITLAB Showcase.

Second place winner - 1 product from list A, plus any 5 products from list B.

Third place winner - 1 product from list A, plus any 2 products from list B.

Fourth place winner - 1 product from list A or B.

In the event that the same products are chosen by more than one winner, the second place winner will have the first pick, followed by the third place winner, and then the fourth place winner.

** HITLAB will fly the first place winner to the city where the showcase is being held and will pay for his/her accommodation.

Rules and Regulations

1. The contestant certifies that he or she has used original and licensed music software in all stages of production, from songwriting to mastering. A list of music software used and proof of registration of software licenses must be presented to IMSTA in order to receive your prize. IMSTA has the right to revoke the prize if such licenses are not presented within 30 days of the notification to the winner. If you have used another studio's services, please indicate the name of the recording studio(s) and a list of music software used at each studio. Please say "none" if you have not used music software in your production.

2. All songs submitted must be original songs, and the person or company submitting each song must have the legal capacity to do so.

3. In the event that the winner of the IMSTA Song Competition is located outside of Canada, the winner is responsible for obtaining any Visa or travel documentation needed to enter Canada. Neither IMSTA nor HITLAB is responsible for obtaining Visa or other travel documents for entering Canada.

4. The winning song may be performed by the songwriter or by an artist of his/her choosing. The winning songwriter must notify IMSTA and HITLAB in writing if the song is to be performed by someone other than the songwriter.

5. All submitted songs belong to the songwriter, and neither IMSTA nor HITLAB will have ownership of the submitted songs or any claims thereof.

6. Winner grants IMSTA and/or HITLAB the right to use the winner’s name, song, image, and voice for future advertising and promotional purposes.

7. The contestant indemnifies IMSTA and HITLAB from any and all damages that may arise as a result of the contestant's negligence, infringement of copyrights, and any other unlawful action that may have been performed by the contestant in association with this contest.
