IMSTA Bulletin - October 2009
IMSTA: "Let's Talk Piracy" Survey 2009 | October 1st - December 31

IMSTA deployed its 2009 “Let’s Talk Piracy” survey which will be active until December 31, 2009. The survey will feature a contest and 10 lucky winners will receive prizes given away by IMSTA member companies. Since IMSTA’s goal is to collect this information on an annual basis and to come up with a trend, it was suggested that we use the exact same questions as we did last year. This would ensure that we are comparing the same data year after year. Last year, we had over 3700 responses from 83 countries around the world. This was possible with the help of our member companies, which promoted the survey on their web sites, in their news letters, and by sending out e-blasts to the registered users in their databases. This year too, we need all the help we can get in promoting the survey. SURVEY

IMSTA ITALY: NetMusic Project | Connecting the Professional and Educational Sectors
Last month IMSTA Italy ambassador Andrea Pozzi and IMSTA Italy member MIDIWARE contributed to the development of the “NetMusic” Project by defining the network structure and testing the “Vocational Training” center which is made up of Italian music educators, professionals, and students. The testing stage was a successful one as hundreds of students participated and helped the “NetMusic” platform become a reference portal for all main professional training centers throughout Italy. This is a great project that has helped the development of a real integration between the country's educational and professional sectors. The platform is also a great place for IMSTA Italia to spread the IMSTA message to thousands of students, educators, and professionals.
IMSTAR OF THE MONTH: IMSTA's International Ambassadors
An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA voluntarily. Often, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software industry. However, it is time for IMSTA to recognize the hard work of its international ambassadors who have been instrumental in helping IMSTA spread its message around the world. The IMSTARs of the month of October in alphabetical order are: Aditya Mehta (IMSTA India), Andrea Pozzi (IMSTA Italy), Eric Nolot (IMSTA France), Michael Logue (IMSTA USA), Paul Fattahi (IMSTA Canada), Seiji Murai (IMSTA Japan), Stephanie Sobey-Jones (IMSTA United Kingdom), and Thomas Wendt (IMSTA Germany).
MEMBERSHIPS: To Join Up or Renew Your Membership

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this, fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2008. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your web site. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you. |
See you next time...
