IMSTA CANADA: MIAC & PAL Show | Toronto, Canada | August 23 - 24

MIAC

If you are an IMSTA member or supporter and are exhibiting or attending the MIAC & PAL show this year, please stop by the IMSTA booth - # 637. We would be glad to see you there. For those that do not know about this event, the MIAC & PAL Trade Show is a two day event that gives exhibitors the opportunity to meet the Canadian music products purchasers and decision makers under one roof. Visitors to the show would also have the opportunity to build new relationships and to solidify existing ones. Overall, this is the best place to be if you are involved in the music products market and are doing business in Canada. For more information, visit the MIAC web site.

Many have succumbed to the technological fever of downloading. With a few simple clicks of a mouse, you can download just about any song your ear longs to hear or stream the latest movie to hit theatres. You can also play the new hit video game or download the best software. Better yet, by knowing which blogs to visit or which file-sharing programs to use, obtaining such entertainment doesn't’t cost a cent. Piracy has become a fast-growing online habit. Much like the pirates we see scavenging in cartoons pocketing jewels and bars of gold ... Read on...

IMSTA MEMBER: ASKVideo Places the IMSTA Badge on Product Packages

ASKVideo

ASK Video is a professional media company based in central Ontario, Canada. They make interactive tutorial DVDs for software such as Pro Tools, Reason, Cubase, and Logic. Educating people about software is the cornerstone of ASK Video’s business and that is the reason they have been a proud member of IMSTA ever since the association was formed. Since ASK Video deals primarily with video products and DVDs, piracy is a big concern for them.  Rather than trying to punish those who are using pirated versions of their products, they have chosen to create awareness by placing the IMSTA logo on the back of all of their DVDs and by providing a link to the IMSTA web site in all of the software they create. ASK Video management believes that informing software users about the choices they make is the best way to change their behavior. web site

IMSTAR

An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA voluntarily. Often, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software industry. The IMSTAR of the month of July is Pro Sound Systems (PSS) India. PSS has continuously shown its support for IMSTA India and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support and generosity.

MEMBERSHIPS: To Join Up or Renew Your Membership
uncle

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this, fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2008. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your web site. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you.

See you next month.
