IMSTA'S APPROACH IN FACING SOFTWARE PIRACY: Why Do We Educate When We Could Litigate?

IMSTA MEMBERSHIP: United States, Japan, Canada, and Germany Lead the Way With the Most Members
Have IMSTA had its own “World Cup” (let’s call it the “Blue World Cup”) United States, Japan, Canada, and Germany would be in the first, second, third, and forth places respectively. Just one look at the members’ page on the IMSTA web site shows that these countries are homes to the most number of IMSTA members and supporters. It is true that United States is also one of the biggest countries in the world and that it is natural for this country to hold the most members. None the less, we need to recognize the countries where IMSTA has the strongest presence and find ways to do the same in other countries. For example, one of the best ways to strengthen IMSTA’s global presence would be to increase the number of schools that join the association. It does not cost anything for educational institutions to join IMSTA. Therefore, if you would like your country to take the lead, please forward this to as many educational institutions in your country as possible and invite them to join IMSTA. IMSTAR OF THE MONTH : Mtech Marketing Communications & Interactive Concepts
An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA voluntarily. Often, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software industry. However, a member who goes beyond basic membership obligations may also receive a star and become an IMSTAR. The IMSTARs of this month are Mtech Marketing Communications and Interactive Concepts. Both these firms have been helping with IMSTA's publicity needs in North America and Europe respectively. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian McConnon (Mtech Marketing) and Thomas Wendt (Interactive Concepts) for all their support.
MEMBERSHIPS: To Join Up or Renew Your Membership

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this, fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2008. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your web site. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you. |
See you next month.
