"SOFTWARE DAY" AT MUSIKMESSE WAS A SUCCESS: One step closer to a "Blue World"

MESSE TURNS BLUE

These days we associate expressions such as “Green World” with recycling and other Earth Friendly educational and social campaigns. What if there was such an expression to symbolize “Piracy Education”?  Well, IMSTA has been using the “Going Blue” campaign for some time and now it is time to make it official. Yes, a “Blue World” where everyone buys the software he/she uses. On Saturday March 15th 2008, IMSTA’s aim at turning the world blue was supported by its members and supporters who exhibited at or attended Musikmesse. These supporters helped turn this event “Blue” by wearing the IMSTA Blue T-shirts and displaying the slogan ‘buy the software you use’. It is great to see so many software companies stand united on this day to promote the legal use of software and to show their support for IMSTA’s “Piracy Education” campaigns. As the popularity of the “Software Day” has increased, many companies who had not previously participated in this ongoing campaign did participate this time around. All “Software Day” photos have now been uploaded to the IMSTA web site’s Image Gallery and are now available for your viewing. IMSTA Photo Gallery …

IMSTA Badge

The IMSTA badge contains an important message which has been translated to many different languages. To spread the message, IMSTA members and supporter place the badge on their product packages, web sites, and brochures. However, if the badge has not been translated to your language yet, please provide us with the translation text and we will make sure that the badge is available in your language too. We would also like to remind our members who have not yet put the badge on their boxes, web site, and brochures to please do so. The more people that see the message, the better it is for our common cause. Please download the IMSTA badge here …

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS: The university of New Brunswick and Carleton University are now members

Schools

In our last e-news we had announced the addition of a new category to our member base called “Educational Institutions”; and that Berklee College of Music and BPM Sound and Music Production College were the first two institutions to join. Now we are pleased to announce that two Canadian Universities, Carleton University and the University of New Brunswick, have also joined IMSTA. By having more Educational Institutions onboard, IMSTA is able to strengthen its reach to the very important student audience. Since students are current and future software users, it is essential that we start their behavior change process earlier in their young lives, rather than later. It is very important for piracy “Education” to start in “Educational Institutions”.

IMSTAR OF THE MONTH : Music Marketing

IMSTAR

An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA voluntarily. Often, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software industry. However, a member who goes beyond basic membership obligations may also receive a star and become an IMSTAR. The IMSTAR of the month is none other than one of IMSTA's own members, Music Marketing. Since IMSTA’s inception, Music Marketing has spent thousands of its own dollars to keep the association going. In 2007 alone, Music Marketing spent over $6,000 in cash towards IMSTA’s goals. This is in addition to various other services the company has provided and continues to provide for IMSTA. Therefore we must recognize that without Music Marketing’s generosity, IMSTA may not have been here today. Thank you Music Marketing.

A MESSAGE TO OUR MEMBERS: Time To Strengthen IMSTA

MESSAGE

How much effort would it take for each one of our members to spread the IMSTA message and help sign up just one new member? Not much! Maybe it would take a couple of minutes at the end of a call or a visit that you would have to make anyway as part of your normal business day. We understand that everyone is busy, but most people could spare a few minutes here and there to promote IMSTA to their peers. You have joined IMSTA because you believe in the association and its nondestructive approach to tackle the software piracy problem. Please help strengthen IMSTA by spreading its message to your friends and by recommending that they join too. If each member helps sign up just one new member, it would be a big success for IMSTA. Now, imagine if everyone could help sign up just one new member per month. Not a lot of effort on an individual basis, but for IMSTA, it all adds up. The more members we have, the stronger we get. The stronger we get, the more we could achieve to help our members. Let us all pitch in and work towards promoting a “Blue World ”.

MEMBERSHIPS: To Join or Renew Your Membership
uncle

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this, fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2008. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your web site. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you.

See you next month.
