IMSTA is coming to AES in New York. We are very happy to be exhibiting at this most prestigious of audio equipment trade shows. In addition, we would like to recognize the enormous help that the AES has provided to IMSTA this year and years in the past. We would especially like to thank Roger Furness and Chris Plunkett for all their support. Please visit IMSTA at the AES Convention October 5-8 at the The Javits Center. Our booth number is 1249. See you there. To get more information on AES click here.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT: Stephen E. Siwek on the true cost of piracy to the economy
We recently came across an expansive study by the Institute of Policy Innovation on the hidden costs of piracy to the overall economy. At one point or another, everyone has come across pirated music, movies, and software. We all know that the stolen products cost these industries billions of dollars every year, and that there are huge consequences if it does not stop. However, most people don’t realize that the effects of piracy go far beyond the few industries that are at the center of all the attention. Stephen E. Siwek's study is very most enlightening. MEMBER PROFILE: Ilan Murad - Halilit Israel

Ilan Murad - Halilit Israel
Ilan Murad is a well known musician and audio technology consultant in Israel. He is the head of Halilit Israel’s Recording Technologies department and one of the leading piracy-free educators in that country. We are pleased to have the opportunity to interview Ilan, who had everything to do with bringing Halilit onboard and becoming IMSTA’s voice in Israel. Read the full interview here.
IMSTA AD COMPETITION: Thank You For All Your Ideas and Creativity
Now that the 2007 IMSTA Ad Competition has come to an end, we would like to thank everyone who participated in this contest. Numerous people were involved with this project on many levels. Some coordinated the contest and others promoted it, and there were those who did both. We are also proud of all the IMSTA members who participated by submitting their ads. We are going to post the entries online to review the entries over the next few weeks and announce the winner(s) in the next bulletin. If you still have ad ideas, we will accept them until the end of the AES show - that's October 8th, 2007 - you can email them here.
Intellectual Property: Stealing Music Software & Stealing Music Content - Two Sides of The Same Coin

As musicians, we face a serious problem. Year after year, we spend thousands of dollars and countless of hours writing, recording, mixing, mastering, and promoting our music. We finally get someone to notice our work. We get our products to retailers and wait for the money to roll in. This is when the reality hits home... Read on...
IMSTAR OF THE MONTH : Contact IMSTA and find out how you or your organization can become an IMSTAR

An IMSTAR is a company or an individual that helps IMSTA with its agenda. Usually, IMSTARs do not have a direct interest in the music software, or the software industry in general. However, a member who goes beyond its membership requirements may also receive a star and become an IMSTAR. The IMSTAR of the month of September is Isaac Oseil and Source Imaging, who specializes in printing, packaging, and promotions. To get more information about Source Imaging click here.
A QUICK NOTE TO OUR MEMBERS : Please Set Your Spam Filters to Receive E-mails from IMSTA
IMSTA sends out its e-news once a month to all its members, friends and supporters. This has to be done as a bulk e-mail since there is no way that we can send individual e-mails to all of you. However, we have been reported to a spam tracking organization as a spammer. This has caused a lot of our email to be automatically blocked from people who wish to receive our bulletins. While we work to resolve this issue with the appropriate services, please make sure to set your spam filters to receive e-mails from IMSTA. Please tell your friends and colleagues to do the same. Also, remember that if you do not wish to receive the IMSTA e-news, you can "unsubscribe" by clicking on the link at the bottom of this document. There is no reason to report us as spammers. Thank you.
MEMBERSHIPS: Join Up, Pay Up and Do Your Part
|
|
IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2007. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your website. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you. |
See you next month.
