IMSTA Bulletin - March 2007

Out of the blocks at NAMM with a Bang!

On January 19, 2007, we hosted a general members meeting at the Winter NAMM Show. This meeting laid the foundation for a new direction for IMSTA for 2007. We have pledged to take the organization out of the basement and onto the main floor with some intelligent restructuring. In what must have been one of the best attended members meetings the mood was inspiring and the resolve strong. We CAN make a difference and we WILL make a difference in the battle against piracy.

Speakers included Ray Williams, Daniel Haver and Ernst Nathorst Böös. The audience consisted of a virtual who-is-who of the music software business. The list of companies in attendance included: AMG, Arbiter Group, ASK Video, Cakewalk, Celemony, Digidesign, Digitalmusician.net, Electronic Musician, Image Line, Korg, Kristal Labs, MI Sales Trak, Music Marketing, Native Instruments, Obedia, Propellerhead, Steinberg, Submersible Music, Syncrosoft, Synthogy, Synthax, Wave Arts and WIBU. Sincere thanks for all those who came out to show their support. Don't forget to begin implementing the program outlined in our Industry Member's Guide.

Image Line is the latest member to implement the "Buy The Software You Use" badge on their product packaging. The new FL Studio 7 and Decadance product have the IMSTA logo as part of the product. We will like to remind members of the importance of this simple, inexpensive method of fighting piracy. The artwork for the badge can be found here. Kudos to Frank and Jean-Marie for doing their part in the battle against Music Software Piracy.

TIP OF THE DAY: Use your Email Signatures to Fight Piracy

emailsignature

A simple, inexpensive way to do your little bit to fight piracy is to append our message to your email signature. If you add the total number of emails sent daily by our members and their employees it would be a number in the tens of thousands. Appending this simply message will plant the notion of buying software in front of the eyes of hundreds of thousands of people from all sectors of the music software industry. Please don't delay, it can be done in about 30 seconds but yet can be so effective in spreading our message. The actual text is below.

MEMBERSHIPS: Join Up, Pay Up and Do Your Part

uncle

IMSTA is the best and only advocacy program the music software industry currently has for fighting piracy. We are fighting piracy on levels that go beyond the obvious. We are trying to change behavior. In order to do this we need a few simple things done by tens of thousands of people - yes, you are one of them. To start, we need you to join IMSTA. To do this fill out our Membership Application Form. Next we do need you to pay your membership dues for 2007. This is a small but vital contribution that you will make to our campaign. We use your money to pay for the things that we can't get volunteers to do. If you haven't paid yet, please do it now. Finally, we need you to begin the process of implementing the program in the Industry Member's Guide. For starter, put the IMSTA Badge on your website. This is as easy as 1, 2, 3. One thing for sure is that we cannot succeed without you.

See you are Musik Messe
